VENUE 2009

Located in a picturesque setting on the North bank of the Clyde, the SECC is easily accessible from the motorway and Glasgow's train stations and is close to the city centre.

The SECC is the UK's largest integrated exhibition and conference centre. Its technical facilities and lecture theatres are of the highest standard and promise to deliver another outstanding meeting.

Glasgow is one of Europe's most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities. A historical centre of maritime trade and industry and a shining example of regeneration, Glasgow is a friendly and flourishing city which offers an eclectic mix of attractions old and new.

Within the city, and further afield, there are many opportunities to spend spare time.

The architecture

From its grand Victorian tenements to the SECC itself, Glasgow's architecture is varied and very impressive, striking a balance between contempory and traditional. In particular don't miss the creations of the Arts and Crafts designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

The cathedral

With its origins in the sixth century, Glasgow Cathedral houses the bones of Saint Mungo, the patron saint of the city. The cathedral is one of the most breathtaking medieval churches in Britain.

The entertainment

Dozens of theatrical venues and music of all styles will compete for the evening attentions of delegates. Glasgow is also home to the Scottish Opera and the Scottish Ballet.

The food and drink

Glasgow has a great range of pubs, bars and restaurants to explore, offering traditional Scottish cooking alongside great cuisine from all over the world.

The museums and galleries

Glasgow is home to a diverse selection of museums and art galleries - on subjects ranging from the police to fossils and the People's Palace. It is also home to the beautiful Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery which has recently reopened following a 3 year renovation project and will play host the BSRs 25th Anniversary Social Event.

The natural surroundings

As well as a dozen large parks, Glasgow offers easy access to the relaxing splendour of the Scottish Countryside. Alternatively, take a walk along the vibrant banks of the river Clyde.
